Social Media Strategies of PlayStation



               


        I chose to write about PlayStation due to the fact that my son is a gamer and has had these gaming consoles since the PlayStation 3, this was the console that started his path into becoming a gamer who has consistently stayed with PlayStation consoles, currently he has advanced to the PlayStation 5 which is the most recent version of PlayStation. I decided that maybe it was time to look back at some of the history of PlayStation since I already know that it was manufactured by Sony Entertainment, now to dive deeper and see what makes it popular and what the marketing strategies are to inform people about the product lines that gives the public the opportunity to make an informed decision about the products that currently are available to choose from.

    PlayStation is a video gaming brand owned and produced by Sony Interactive Entertainment, a division of Japanese conglomerate Sony. It all started as the brainchild of Ken Kutaragi, a Sony executive who managed one of the company's hardware engineering divisions, he was later known as " The father of the PlayStation," Sony had very little direct involvement with the video game industry until 1991 for they were part of a joint partnership project with Nintendo, supplying components such as the sound chip for Nintendo, a company that was a partner since 1988.The partnership between the two companies ended over the game " Super Famicon" in which Nintendo denied the partnership between the two companies, therefore ending the partnership in 1991.The ending of the partnership prompted Sony to create a competing product that would eventually become competition for Nintendo, Sega and Microsoft. In 1994. the first PlayStation console was released becoming the first video game console to sell 120 million units. In 2020 PlayStation 5 was released which is the most recent version of the gaming console with the newest technology making characters of the game looking virtually realistic like an actual person on the screen



    PlayStation's value proposition is built on a foundation of Innovative Technology, Exclusive Game Titles, Community Engagement, Subscription Services, Diversity & Inclusion and Dynamic Pricing Strategy, making it a preferred choice for gamers worldwide. This approach not only enhances the gaming experience but also solidifies their position as a leader in the gaming industry. The marketing strategy of PlayStation is a comprehensive approach that combines Community Building, Exclusive Content, Subscription Services and Targeted Campaigns to maintain its competitive edge in the gaming industry. By focusing on the needs and preferences of gamers, Sony continues to strengthen its brand loyalty and drives engagement across its platforms.

    Reviews on Sony PlayStation in social media seems to be negative and debated rather hastily towards one another so I chose not to post those types of comments for some of them were rather profane and violent towards each other, so I chose to use online magazine reviews from 2 different authors from separate review sources. Will Greenwood is a review writer for PC Magazine while Mark Ellis represents himself writing his own reviews on various products from companies around the world.

    As the PlayStation 5 recently celebrated its 5th birthday, many gamers are waiting to see what Sony has in store for its successor. Although Sony has not revealed any information on the next generation of gaming consoles, PlayStation 6. At this time, it is just a speculated rumor as to what the new console will be able to do for the gaming industry. According to Technobezz , there have been talks between Sony and AMD about the technology that will be used for PlayStation 6. When you look at Sony's release history of consoles, it provides solid clues about the timeline of new products. The PlayStation 3 was introduced in 2006, PlayStation 4 arrived in 2013, and PlayStation 5 arrived on the shelves in 2020. this pattern clearly shows that Sony releases new systems every 7 years so the PlayStation 6 should be available in 2027 or 2028. At a glance, the PlayStation 6 is said by eagle-eyed internet sleuths that find the leaks and start rumors like:
    •  Manufacturing is thought to begin in 2027
    • Price estimated at around $600
    • The PS 6 might be a digital-only console, although detachable disc drive is possible
    • AMD Orion APU
    • Backwards capability for PS5 and PS4 games
    Although these speculated rumors have not been confirmed by Sony, we should refrain from getting too excited about the introduction of the PS6. However, if true then it could mean the PlayStation 6 would not only be impressively powerful, but it could be cheaper than predicted. For now, the best advice might be to enjoy what we currently have. The PlayStation 5 offers incredible gaming experiences, and developers are still finding new ways to promote and push these consoles out to the consumer by new marketing strategies for continued sales of these consoles. The strategies of Sony can be thought of as brilliant ways to keep the PlayStation 5 market going as strong and as popular as it was in 2020.

Promoting Marketing in Horse Racing

 


    Horse racing is a thrilling and dynamic sport that thrives on effective marketing strategies. These strategies promote horse racing but also promote ticket sales drawing in new enthusiasts, Horse racing is deep in legacy, history and tradition that has always attracted a loyal fan base. For decades the strategies of marketing heavily relied on traditional channels, television ads, print media and sponsorships. In recent years there has been a shift in the racing industry due to the constant change in technology which included the use of social media. These technological changes started raising the following questions:
  • What is the importance of marketing in horse racing?
  • How can social media be used in horse racing marketing?
  • What is the role of influencers in horse racing marketing?
  • Why is community engagement important in horse racing marketing?
  • How can horse racing organizations provide value to fans?
        The importance of horse racing marketing is to emphasize the unique experience that spectators can expect to see at the racing event, an experience beyond the race itself, it is about the atmosphere, the excitement and the overall energy that is present at the horse racing event. To stand out and offer something different other than just a race on the track would be the beginning of a strategy of cultivating lasting connections with fans making them feel like they are active participants instead of just spectators watching a sport that is no longer competing with other sports. By offering a new range of activities such as live music performances, food and drink specials to craft a memorable experience. It is important to experiment with options that will spark the interest of all generations, not just the rich and famous. 

    Social media can be invaluable tools in horse racing marketing strategies that can offer a platform to reach new enthusiasts, promote new horse events and share the latest news in the industry. By sharing and engaging in social media content, the industry can interact with followers, new and old, the horse racing organizations can cultivate a dedicated fanbase and enhance their brand engagement.

    Partnering with influencers like celebrities can be an effective strategy that horse racing marketers can use to draw in new spectators to broaden the reach of events. Jockeys, trainers and owners can also serve as excellent ambassadors for the industry by sharing their stories and passion for the sport. They can also help with promoting the sport drawing in new generations that would like to be educated in horse racing with the possibility of actually taking part in the sport.

    Community engagement is crucial and often overlooked strategy of marketing. Horse racing events significantly contribute to the local economy so building relationships with local business and other organizations is extremely important. Local charities and community groups can positively impact the community as well as broaden the support of events such as horse racing. The community as well as the racing world can benefit from being involved together to be successful in horse racing.

    The strategies of horse racing marketing should prioritize providing value to spectators by offering discounts, special promotions and exclusive content for these offerings demonstrate appreciation to fans that are loyal to the sport. By being effective in marketing strategies can enhance the experience of fans to keep returning to watch horse racing. It is important to keep up on technology and social media to not fall behind the times, for falling behind would lose all that has been built through marketing strategies Keeping up with the times is a crucial part of marketing so keep things remarkable to draw in those new generations. Chele's Introduction to Marketeing

  

  My name is Michele Genske, but you can call me Chele. I am a recent graduate of LBCC as of June 12th, 2025, receiving an Associates of Applied Science in Animal Technology: Horse Management and an Associates of Arts in General Studies. I am also considered to be one of the success stories for returning to college after a 10-year hiatus. I originally started attending LBCC in 2010 through 2014 but had to stop attending due to life's issues throwing me a curve ball that did not sit very well at the time. In 2024, my youngest son graduated from LBCC's CTE Welding program and we went to the Corvallis Knights LBCC night baseball game where I won a LBCC scholarship which began the journey for graduating in 2025. At the bottom of this are a few photos of myself and the training horse that I used while completing the Horse Management p rogram. I am currently attending classes to complete 8 credits remaining to receive both of my degrees. I know what you may be thinking be "Why do, I care about this person's journey?" It's the simple fact that is possible after a long period of time for anyone to return to school to finish off what they may have started many years ago. My point would be that anyone can complete a lifelong dream that they may had since they were a child. Anything is possible for the ones who put their minds to it at any age.


    I am taking this Marketing class to learn ways to go about getting the many ideas that I have out there to be successful at the possibilities of future business opportunities that may present themselves to me. I have many ideas for many fields in several different industry types. I just need the knowledge of marketing for success to be successful for that is the key to getting noticed for a successful business. "Anything is possible when you put your mind to it" is a really good motto to have to help yourself stay the course and follow the path of your dreams, so stay on task and do what your heart is telling you to do.
